The medium-to-large Belgian Laekenois is a herding breed that was originally breed to hard ship.The rarest of the four Belgian herding breeds, it is named for the town of Laeken, where it was orginated. It is pronounced lak-in-wah.The shoulder height of an adult Belgian Laekenois male is normally between 24 and 26 inches, whereas that of an adult female is slightly smaller, usually between 22 and 24 inches.Males typically weight between 55 and 65 pounds, while females typically weight between 45 and 55 pounds.The coat of a Belgian Laekenois is rough and tangled.Its wiry texture provides weather protection.Life span 10 to 12 years.Their Temperament Vigilant, protective, loyal, courageous, and alert.They require a lot of exercise because they are energetic dogs.
