
A 31-year-old woman’s boyfriend was trying to get her from the alligator’s mouth before he contacted 911 to report the incident, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
The terrible incident occurred in the Econlockhatchee River in the Little Big Econ State Forest in Central Florida at around 1:30 p.m. on June 28, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, 10 Tampa Bay News Reports.
The Orlando woman went for a swim to cool off after trekking with her boyfriend and best friend.At a press conference on June 29 afternoon, FWC Public Information Officer Chad Weber stated that she was kneeling in roughly three feet of water when an alligator came up to her and bit both of her arms.
The FWC, the Florida Forest Service, and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office also responded. Two large alligators in the area were located and captured by the agencies using helicopters.
According to FWC Lieutenant Grant Eller, one 13-foot alligator was caught on the spot, while another 12-foot alligator was caught a short distance away. To find out if any of the gators were involved in the attack, the department is attempting to finish the DNA study.
