Zambian forces of MINUSCA and the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) organized joint patrols in the city of Birao and its surroundings to help restore peace in the areas.
The armed conflicts that hurt the city of Birao, in the north-east of the Central African Republic in early September 2019, caused more than 24,000 people to flee their homes.
Most have found refuge near the base of the UN Mission in the country (MINUSCA) and at the airport.
MINUSCA is helping the Central African Army to become operational in the field and to fulfil its mission. It is about restoring state authority in Birao through respect for law and order.
Checkpoints were erected in the strategic points of the city to avoid possible intrusions of armed men in Birao.
Today, the city of Birao comes back to life. With the return of security, the businesses began to reopen and the population to resume its usual activities~MINUSCA
