Yemen Update

UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric told reporters that according to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) “nearly 1,500 civilian casualties in Yemen were reported in the period between August and October of this year.”

Yemen Update 

Dujarric said this meant an average of 123 civilian deaths and injuries every week during this period. He said, “Given the very heavy human cost, UNHCR urges partiesto the conflict in Yemen to improve the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure.” 

Dujarric said homes and hospitals continued to be sites of violence with “23 percent of all deaths and injuries during this period” reported in houses.  UNIFEED/FILE
