Violence in CAR Cost the Life of UN Soldier

A United Nations soldier died and another was wounded outside the city of Bangui in the Central African Republic
Armed groups clashed with reduced peacekeeping, which killed one and wounded in blue helmets yesterday, January 13, near the city of Bangui, in the Central African Republic, and this act was condemned by the Secretary General United Nations António Guterres, who expects government authorities to hold mentors responsible for acts that may well constitute a war crime. These actions have led to escalating tension between government and rebels.The attack was stopped by the joint action of the defense and security options of the Central African Republic with the support of the United Nations.

There was also the seizure of weapons and the capture of armed elements loyal to the former president. Loss of life where the murder of Rwanda’s blue beret is inserted. The act was condemned by the UN Security Council.”The Secretary-General strongly condemns today’s attacks by unidentified armed combatants on the national defense and security forces of Central Africa and the United Nations Integrated Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) near Bangui. A soldier of Rwanda’s peace was killed and another wounded.

The Secretary General expresses his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased peacekeeper, as well as to the people and government of Rwanda. He wants a quick recovery for the injured.The Secretary-General recalls that attacks against United Nations peacekeepers can constitute a war crime. He calls on the authorities of the Central African Republic to take all necessary measures to ensure accountability for these heinous attacks.The Secretary-General remains very concerned about the continued efforts to destabilize armed groups in the Central African Republic and calls on all parties to stop the violence and engage in meaningful dialogue. He commends the continued involvement of United Nations peacekeepers in their efforts to protect civilians and preserve national stability.

The Secretary-General reiterates the United Nations’ commitment, in close collaboration with national, regional and international partners, to support the cause of peace in the Central African Republic”, said Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General, on the Central African Republic.The presidential updates of 27 December sparked a wave of violence and the flight of “tens of thousands of people to neighboring countries like Chad and Cameroon”.
