Theft of 1,000 Items from Oakland Museum

The Oakland Police Department said that earlier this month, thieves stole over 1,000 historical objects from a museum in California.

According to a statement released by the police department on Wednesday, the theft took place at the Oakland Museum of California’s off-site storage facility shortly before 3:30 a.m. on October 15, KTVU Fox 2 reports.

Over 1,000 objects, including Native American jewelry and baskets, laptops, and other historical relics, were taken by the thieves when they broke into an off-site storage facility.

Four days before to the infamous heist at Louvre Museum in Paris, where seven suspects have now been taken into custody, the Oakland museum theft took place.It is being investigated by the FBI’s Art Crime Team.
