Police Were Beaten by Three Women in Portugal

Portugal Diary

By Joel Balsinha

Three suspects, who did not comply with the rules of compulsory collection and the use of a protective mask, attacked a Public Security Police (PSP), on March 2, at 5:50 pm, in the parish of Belém, in Lisbon, in Portugal. The women were arrested and taken to court for the crime of resistance and coercion.

The Metropolitan Command of the Lisbon PSP, through the 4th Police Division, revealed that it had “detained three women aged 15, 17 and 45 years old, for being suspected of the crime of resistance and coercion to the Police, in full In the context of a preventive policing action, with regard to the practice of illegal activities and compliance with the rules of general recollection, it was found that the three women circulated on the public road, without wearing a protective mask causing other users to change their sense of walking. After a police approach, and since the rules established by the State of Emergency were not being complied with, they were alerted to the need for the use of facial protection, having perpetually and aggressively informed that they had nothing to use any kind of protection, nor to give any justification”.

The authority, “in the course of the administrative offense, in order to prepare the respective report”, asked the “offenders for their identification, a claim that was not accepted, and several insults were made against the police action. Even after being alerted by the improper behavior that they were adopting and always in the sense of proceeding to their identification, the suspicions did not comply, nor did they prove to be collaborating with the police presence.

There were still indications that the suspicions would be illegally in national territory, they were, once again, alerted to the need to identify themselves, which they promptly refused, having, after confrontation with these facts, thrown a bottle at the policeman. In an attempt to sustain the suspicion, the policeman was also scratched and bitten in the arm, with the others suspicions also committed several assaults”.

The detainees were brought before a judge at the Lisbon District Judicial Court for the acts described and perpetrated by these women aged 15, 17 and 45 for which the mandatory periodic presentation enforcement measure was applied.
