
On May 3, police and wildlife officials were heavily present in the Hansen Dam area of the San Fernando Valley,Los Angeles, California, United States, due to a large bear that was on the loose. There were also large throngs of people who were hoping to see the bear.Ricardo Villarreal, a local runner, said that he saw the bear scaling a fence while jogging north on Osborne Street.
Villarreal said, “I thought he was going to attack me.” “Hey, man, you better run because he’s coming this way,” the police officer remarked.According to Villarreal, the police fired a weapon at the bear right in front of him but missed, KTLA 5 reports.
While personnel of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife went to the park, police set up a cordon in a portion of the outdoor recreation area, according to video from the scene, which is still unfolding.
The bear was at one point seen standing close to a map of Hansen Dam after breaking through nearby fencing. Later, it fled and was seen perched high in a nearby tree.
