The mountain lion was tranquilized and then temporarily retreated to a nearby apartment complex, where a police drone kept a careful eye on it. Before the animal was moved to a secure location for monitoring, more sedation was given to make sure it could be handled safely.
The lion was found to be in very good health. To track its movement after release, a tracking collar was installed.
The mountain lion was safely released into suitable habitat near Cleveland National Forest at around 11 p.m. after it had been fully awake and alert. Employees observed it strolling away and resting close to a tree; it was a little wobbly at first but soon returned to its regular gait.
