A Dutch museum recently displayed a fascinating medieval sword with unique symbols, more than a year after construction workers found it by chance.
The National Museum of Antiquities (RMO) in Leiden, the Netherlands, announced the sword’s discovery on June 24.
According to Fox 7 Austin, the Linschoten Sword item was found in March 2024 while conducting “maintenance dredging activities,” according to a press statement from the museum.
According to the statement, construction workers were cleaning a tiny river called the Korte Linschoten when they were struck by a “long piece of iron”.
The sword that was found was more than three feet long and was discovered to have been made between 1050 and 1150 A.D.
