An anti-government protest has been held in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, a day after parliament voted to lift the state of emergency which was declared as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Farmers in Afghanistan are growing poppies in government-controlled areas, insisting that there are no real economic alternatives to cultivating the flowers for the opium trade. It’s estimated that Afghanistan’s poppy fields are the source for much of the world’s illegal heroin supply.
The Ukrainian government promised that all medical personnel would be tested for COVID-19 once every five days, but doctors have told RFE/RL that has not happened. Medics also said that there were shortages of protective gear and that government promises of increased pay have not been met~RFE/RL
