UNICEF Installation Showing Scale of Child Deaths in Conflict in 2018

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres visits the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) installation on the lawn of United Nations headquarters.
The installation features 3,758 backpacks in rows reminiscent of a graveyard, each one representing a loss of a young life to conflict during 2018. The installation is a message to world leaders ahead of the annual United Nations General Assembly and the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Once the installation is taken down, the backpacks will continue on their journey to support children’s education on 11 September, 2019~UN Photo by Evan Schneider
