But online fantasy sports are prohibited in several Indian states. The Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act of 1955 gave the state of Odisha the authority to outlaw all internet gambling games.
With the exception of lotteries and horse racing, Assam has also taken a strong stand against betting on games or sports. The state’s gaming laws are governed under the Assam Game and Betting Act of 1970.Online gambling and betting, including fantasy sports platforms, are also prohibited in Andhra Pradesh under Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act 1974.Telengana,Nagaland,Sikkim and Tamilnadu also prohibited online gaming platforms, including fantasy sports.
Users are still able to download and use the fantasy sports app in states that have prohibited it. By taking part in free competitions, they can experience some features of fantasy sports without having to worry about money. Nevertheless, financial transactions and sponsored competitions are forbidden.However, the majority of Indian states allow fantasy sports apps.
Not all Indian states allow playing rummy online in order to win money. It is illegal to play cash rummy games in the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, and Sikkim.
