Which game reserve in Africa is four times bigger than Serengeti? Naturally the answer is Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania which is about 50, 000 square kilometers and is the home of about 350 species of birds and reptiles.
The main attraction obviously the big herds of Tanzanian elephants gather at the river bank of Rufiji river that flows through the game reserve, to wash off the day’s heat and dust.
Visitors can spot rhinos, hippopotamous, leopord, lion, spotted hyena, zebras, Girard and much more.

The Selous Game Reserve named after Captain Frederic Courtney Selous a famous British explorer, hunter and conservationist, was formed in 1922 after the amalgamation of four game reserves. It’s an UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
