Originally used to keep rodents off farms, the Rat Terrier is a small, compact dog originated in the United States. Their build is athletic and compact.They have short coats with different patterns and colors including White, black, brown, tan and gray.They weigh between 4 to 11 kgs (10 and 25 pounds), range in height from 10 to 13 inches ( 25 to 33 cm) for miniature and 13 to 18 inches (33 to 45 cm) for standard, and have an average lifespan of 12 to 16 years.Active families are most suited for rat terriers. They need a sizable, enclosed area to run around because they are highly energetic dogs.They are intelligent, curious, affectionate, energetic, and alert.
