
As the online community mourn tragic death of Jackie the bald eagle, donations to the Ojai Raptor Center, Los Angeles, California, continue on Monday. The 14-year-old eagle, one half of the celebrated wildlife couple Jackie and Shadow, was broadcast to millions of people through live nest cameras installed by Friends of Big Bear Valley, KTLA 5 reports. Every day, a devoted fan base watched the pair on live webcams as they raised several eaglets and faced life’s challenges from their Big Bear nest.On July 18, Jackie became sick and was rescued and sent to the Ojai Raptor Center. After being attacked by 2 juvenile eagles on the north end of Big Bear Lake, Jackie was found flightless and suffering from anemia, kidney inflammation, and other minor injuries.The Ojai Raptor Center has received over 18,500 donations, ranging from $1 to more than $1,000, since taking in Jackie.
