Karelian bear dogs which originated in Finland, was used for hunting and tracking brown bears across the Nordic region.They typically have a white band across their necks, over their chests, and across their paws. Their medium-length double coat has a rough outer layer and is colored black with white markings.They weigh between 16 to 28 kg (37 and 62 pounds), are 19 to 24 inches (48 to 60 cm) tall , and average lifespan of 11 to 13 years.They are powerful, intelligent, and alert. The breed is loyal to its family and protective of them.Being an energetic breed, they require regular exercise.For their short, thick coat regular brushing is necessary.
