Indian President Election 2022

On July 18, India will elect a new president.4,800 MPs and MLAs will vote to choose India’s 15th president. The Presidential college,which consists of elected members of both Houses of parliament, chooses its president. Members of the legislatures of states, including the Union Territory of Pondicherry and the National Capital Territory of Delhi, are elected. Voting is not permitted for nominees. The value of each legislator’s vote is calculated using the state’s population divided by 1,000 and multiplied by the number of state legislators. The value of one MP’s vote is calculated by dividing the total number of members of parliament on the basis of all MLAs’ votes.

The Palace built by Edwin Lutyens is located on top of Raisana Hill in the centre of Delhi, serving as the President of India’s official home. The building’s built-up area is approximately 4.75 acres, and it is surrounded by 400 acres of beautifully maintained gardens. The presidential palace comprises 345 rooms, 37 large private rooms, a golf course, a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, two theatres, a school for the staff’s children, a big kitchen, a laundry facility, and a barbershop. The President’s secretariat comprises 350 members, including military and civil department. He has 220 people working for him in his home. The Presidential residence employs 28 cooks, 37 drivers, 184 gardeners and 57 cleaners and others.
