Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were first used in Kerala the southern state of India, designed by Electronics Corporation of India Ltd. and Bharat Electronics Ltd.

An electronic voting machine (EVM) can support 64 candidates including NOTA ( None of the Above), the highest number. If the number exceeds, then manual ballot would be  used.

1033 candidates contested for a single seat: Modaurichi assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu in 1996. The ballot paper looked like a  booklet.

Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) of Mayawati and  Republican Party of USA share the same electoral symbol-the elephant.

Former Prime Minister of India Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s father and mother  shared the same name Krishna. Krishna Bihari Vajpayee is his father’s name and mother’s name is Krishna Devi.

Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh  has always returned Indian National Congress (INC) during the parliamentary elections.INC leader and former  Union Minister Kamal Nath represented it1980, 1984, 1989, 1991, 1996, 1998,1999, 2004,2009,2014.

Bomdila district in Arunachal Pradesh saw lowest voter turnout in a polling station. The numbers are just three.
