Tawang- Tourists Paradise

Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh which is located in north eastern part of India famed for being the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, Tsangyang Gyatso. It is located at a height of roughly 3048m and is noted for numerous important and beautiful monasteries.

Tawang is home to Galden Namgey Lhatse, India’s largest monastery.Because of its cultural and historical value, the town attracts a large number of tourists.

The breathtaking Nuranang Falls are a sight to see. The Tawang War Memorial, created in honour of slain troops who died in the Sino-Indian war, is a must-see for tourists.

The Sela pass is important because it connects Tawang to the rest of the country. Unless there has been a landslide, the pass is open throughout the year. Because of its magnificent appeal and beauty, the Sela lake, which is adjacent to Sela Pass, is renowned as a Paradise Lake.

The Golden Namgyal Lhatse, commonly known as the Tawang Monastery, is one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most important and picturesque tourist spots. The Tawang monastery is the country’s largest and second-largest monastery, after Lhasa. It is located at a height of 3,000 metres above sea level. The monastery, which is thought to be 400 years old, is situated in a beautiful setting.

The Tawang battle memorial honours the brave and heroic troops who died in the Sino-Indian war of 1962. It’s mostly in honour of Mahavir Chakra Awardee rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat. During the 1962 Sino-India war, the braveheart Jaswant fought and held off the invading Chinese army on his alone for 72 hours while remaining at his station at an altitude of roughly 10,000 feet. During the war, he was killed by a stray enemy bullet. In honour of his spirit and sacrifice, the job he held has been renamed Jaswant Garh.A bronze bust of Jaswant Singh, as well as a portrait of the war hero and his belongings, including his Army uniform, cap, watch, and other items, are displayed at the memorial.

Gorichen Peak, located between Tawang and West Kameng, is Arunachal Pradesh’s highest point. Gorichen peak, which stands at 22,500 feet above sea level, is about 164 kilometres from Tawang. Sa-Nga Phu, which means “Kingdom of Deity,” is the local name for the summit.
