Angelina County Sheriff’s Office deputies said, a Texas mother is incarcerated for allegedly excavating her infant daughter’s grave and removing the child’s remains.
According to jail records, Tamisha Cheyniece Drake, 33, was arrested this week on suspicion of abusing a corpse.
After a report of a destroyed cemetery, deputies were summoned to the Davis Memorial Gardens near Cedar Grove, Texas on April 23. Deputies said, a newborn baby’s tomb had been uncovered, and neither the baby’s body nor the container it was buried in were found, local TV station KTRE reports.
When deputies interrogated child’s mother during investigation, she admitted that she had dug up the burial and told police where she had left the container containing the body, which officers discovered in the driveway of an abandoned house on North Avenue in Lufkin.The sheriff’s office reports that the baby was born in February but did not survive.
