Herefordshire Council, a ceremonial county in the West Midlands of England, has received hundreds of complaints from disgruntled neighbors about rodents, loud music, and barking dogs.
According to data gathered from a freedom of information request filed with the council by the local media, more than 966 complaints from neighbors were filed between January 2024 and 2025, with some complaints being more frequent than others. There were 966 complaints, 166 of which were about barking dogs, 136 about music, and 122 about rats.
The council claims that if noise interferes excessively with someone’s personal comfort or enjoyment or causes or is likely to cause harm, it might be considered a nuisance under the law.
