Cortlandt Koerwitz of Lake Tahoe, California, USA, used bear spray to stop a bear that was charging at him after his children came upon it close to their vacation home.He said that while his daughters were packing up coolers in the garage for a boat trip on 4th of July, they saw a bear digging through trash.When the bear got close, Koerwitz said he reached for the bear spray he keeps near the garage door.In the vicinity of the family’s Lake Tahoe vacation home, Koerwitz said to regularly spot bears. Additionally, he posted a video of a prior incident from two years ago, but he said that this was the first time he had witnessed a bear acting violently, ABC7 reports.
