
After going missing during a catastrophic tornado outbreak in March, Myrtle, a beloved pet tortoise, has been reunited with its family in Mississippi.
On March 15, a tornado struck the rural Kokomo area, forcing the Emanuel family to evacuate their house. When they got back, they discovered that their tortoise’s backyard house had been hit by two fallen pine trees.
There was no sign of Myrtle. The injured tortoise was discovered by a neighbor a few weeks later. On April 4, he was transported to the Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue for medical care.
Central MS Turtle Rescue wrote to their Facebook page,”We have the happiest update about the tortoise that came to us from near Tylertown a few days ago. His family was found and he’s been reunited.And we found out that he was indeed a victim of the recent tornado there….”
