A black bear that had wandered into an Albany neighborhood attracted a lot of attention before New York State wildlife workers tranquilized it and was ready to relocate it.
Neighbors report that the 1-year-old male black bear bear appeared around dawn. For over four hours, the bear perched on a tree limb, WNYT reports
A tranquilizer dart was fired at the bear just before noon. Then, while wildlife officials finished the rescue, the animal fell into a big safety net.
The bear would be returned to the northern Catskills by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) for release once the effects of the medications subsided.
