Taliban Militants Kill 5 Police Officers, Capture 7 in Afghan Kunduz Province – Source

Five police officers and servicemen were killed in the Imam Saheb district of the Afghan northeastern Kunduz province in an attack by militants, a source said adding that seven more officers had been captured by the Taliban.

“The security forces fought until morning, but when they [were short of] ammunition and no one supplied, the post collapsed after six hours of fighting, five soldiers of the local army and local police were killed and seven others were captured by the Taliban,” an eyewitness said.

The clashes took place on Friday night when the militants attacked a district post, the source added.

According to the source, the post was controlled by the local army and the police.

Security Forces Kill 6 Taliban Insurgents, Wound 2 Others in Zurmat District

The Afghan forces killed six Taliban militants and wounded two others during a clash in Zurmat district of South-eastern Paktiya province.

The 203rd Thunder Corps in a statement said the Afghan forces effectively responded to a Taliban attack in Sahak area of Zurmat district, killing at least six militants.

The statement further added that the security forces also wounded 2 other militants and confiscated a a vehicle belonging to militants.

The Taliban group has not commented in this regard so far.

27 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Afghanistan: Total Number Reaches 933

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says at least 27 new cases of the coronavirus were registered in the country during the past 24 hours.

The Health Minister, Ferozuddin Firoz in an opening ceremony of COVID-19 Center in Darlaman Palace said, “308 suspected samples of coronavirus were tested in the laboratories during the past 24 hours which 27 of them confirmed positive.”

He noted that the new cases include 12 cases in Kabul, 7 in Paktia, 4 in Logar, 2 in Herat, 3 in Daikundi and one in Bamyan province.

The Health Minister added that with the registration of the new cases, the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country reaches 933~Afghan Voice Agency (AVA)
