Yazidi Doctor Dedicating Her Life to ISIL Victims

In the north of Iraq, a woman doctor is dedicating her life to women who escaped ISIL captivity. 

Dr. Nagham Nawsat Hasan is dedicating her life to helping these women survivors rebuild their lives again by providing them with free consultations and psychosocial support.

Two years ago, Dr. Nagham started an organization called “Hope Makers for Women which is helping women survivors of ISIL terror.

Yazidi Doctor Dedicating Her Life to ISIL Victims

In the summer of 2014, thousands of Yazidi women and girls living in the north of Iraq, were abducted and enslaved by ISIL. They were subjected to abuse, torture and continuous rape. Those who later escaped or were eventually freed, suffered from psychological trauma and physical pain. 

A displaced Yazidi herself, the gynaecologist has supported more than 1,000 Yazidi women including Nobel Peace Laureate Nadia Murat. 

Even today, the fate of more than 1,400 women enslaved by ISIL across Iraq remains unknown~UNHCR
