The Date for Reopening of the Eiffel Tower Scheduled for July 16

The Eiffel Tower will reopen to the public on July 16 after a nearly seven months closure due to the coronavirus pandemic. Online reservations will resume at the beginning of next month.

To maintain social distance, the number of visitors will be limited to 10,000 a day.

Visitors will be able to reach all floors of the monument, with the exception of a few areas that are undergoing renovations.

According to media reports, the Eiffel Tower is undergoing the most comprehensive renovation in its 130-year history to prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics, including a paint job that will give it a distinct golden hue.

Gustave Eiffel, a French engineer who specialised in metal frames and structures, designed the Eiffel Tower between 1887 and 1889.

The Eiffel Tower was designed for the 1889 Paris World’s Fair as one of the main attractions. The World’s Fair that year covered the entire Champ de Mars in Paris, with the emphasis on the massive iron and steel structures that represented the era’s great technological development.

After more than six months of Covid-19 limit, France eased restrictions on Wednesday.

During the first Covid-19 wave in the spring of last year, the Effiel Tower was shut down for over three months, and then again in the autumn.
