In the 1800s, Stabys were first developed as all-purpose farm dogs in the Netherlands. The average weight of this breed is between 38 and 58 pounds. Males and females should have heights of 20 to 21 inches (measured from the ground to the withers) and 19 to 20 inches, respectively.Their lifespan: 12–15 years.
The coat has two layers a thick undercoat and a long, thin, slightly wavy outer coat. Other hues are acceptable, although typically blue-grey to black. This breed is clever, playful, loyal, independent, kind, loving, and occasionally suspicious of strangers. High levels of cerebral stimulation, playtime, regular walks, and runs are necessary for exercise.Moderate grooming, brush once a week, more often during shedding seasons. Their health is generally good, although there is a chance of developing elbow and hip dysplasia as well as vision issues.
