
The Selous Game Reserve ( a part is now called Nyerere National Park),named after renowned British explorer, hunter, and conservationist Captain Frederic Courtney Selous, was formed in 1922 through the merger of four game reserves. It is a UNESCO World Heritage center.Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania is about 50, 000 square kilometers, four times larger than Serengeti, and it is home to about 350 species of birds and reptiles.At the Rufiji River’s bank, which runs through the game area, Tanzanian elephants congregate.
