
When a dog followed a goose out onto a frozen lake and fell through the thin ice, a New Jersey police officer rescued the dog.According to the Hazlet Township Police Department, Taffy, the dog, was out on a walk with her owner in Veteran’s Park when she chased a goose and her human loosened the dog’s leash.
According to Hazlet Township Police Department Facebook page,they got a desperate call at around 9:50 a.m. about a dog that was struck in the lake at Veteran’s Park. There was still a thin layer of ice on the lake, and the dog was having trouble returning to land.Patrolman Doug Centrone jumped in to help. As a member of the Maritime Emergency Response Team,Centrone is also well-versed in handling these circumstances. After putting on his equipment,the officer gently made his way over the ice to Taffy, the dog, and hoisted her up onto it so she could make her way back to shore.Immediately, Taffy was wrapped in blankets and placed in her vehicle to get warmed up.
