Since the war started, more than 600,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Germany. Many persons with HIV, particularly women, are among them. According to UNAIDS, 260,000 Ukrainians are HIV positive. Since the start of the war, up to 30,000 people have fled their nation and require HIV treatment.Many people initially needed to find refuge, and soon there were numerous demands for HIV treatment. Many refugees had left their belongings behind or had brought the basic necessities.Vasilisa Sutushko, who was born with HIV, arrived in Berlin with one month’s worth of medicines in early March. She also had no idea how to manage the German health-care system. Berliner AIDS Hilfe, one of Germany’s oldest HIV groups, received a surge of demands for assistance. They assisted her, as well as countless others, with medicines, housing, and other serious health needs.Most HIV-positive refugees will not be able to return until the destroyed medical facilities are repaired, according to Berliner AIDS Hilfe
