
At a Polk County nature preserve, a woman was bitten by an alligator while paddling and was taken to the hospital on Monday, according to officials.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded Monday to a report that an alligator bit a woman’s elbow while she was kayaking at the Tiger Creek Preserve in Babson Park, the commission said in a statement.
The woman was transported to the hospital when Polk County Fire Rescue and the FWC arrived on the scene.According to the sheriff’s office, the person was among 20 kayakers and another kayaker had their life jacket torn off.
