According to reports, a suspect in rape charges stole the prosecutor’s phone during a court hearing in Kenya. To clarify the hearing date of his continuing case, Joseph Ombogo, who was out on bail for a defilement charge, had gone to the court with his father. After returning, the prosecutor discovered that his phone was missing from the table where he had placed it.
This led to the courtroom being searched. The person was seen picking up the phone, quietly completing his work, and then left the court after a thorough search and review of the CCTV footage. But the man claimed to have “collected” the phone and denied taking it.
Legal experts say, the defendant’s actions can lead to other charges such as theft, interference with the court, and obstruction of justice.
