CCTV Captures Odd Theft of Gorilla Statue

Before stealing a gorilla statue from a market booth at England’s Darlington Indoor Market, the robbery duo was seen haggling over it on CCTV footage.One may be heard remarking, “There’s a nee gorilla here, man,” as they prepare to take the sculpture, which costs £399.

According to Durham Constabulary Facebook page,Michael O’Brien and Brian Rumley broke into Darlington Indoor Market just after 11.30 p.m. on March 25, and took the £399 ornament from one of the stalls. As the duo carried the jewelry through the town center to an apartment close off Skinnergate, they were noticed by Darlington Borough Council CCTV operators, who followed them on camera.

When the police arrived on the scene after the team’s alarm, they found Rumley, O’Brien, and the stolen gorilla in a bedroom. After being taken into police custody and detained, the two were subsequently charged with burglary. Following its recovery, the gorilla was returned to its original owner.
