
The square, medium-sized Canaan dog has a spitz-like appearance, a thick coat, and a tail that curls over its back when it’s aroused or moving. Sand to red brown, white, or black are the colors of the rough, straight coat that is short to medium length. A Canaan dog should ideally weigh between 18 and 25 kg and measure between 50 and 60 cm.

The breed has two different color patterns. The first is primarily white, with a dark mask that may or may not have extra colored patches. With or without white trim, the second pattern is solidly colored.Canaan dogs typically live 12 to 15 years since they are an extremely active and robust breed.
