Following widespread online criticism from tourists, a tourist village in Sichuan province in southwest China, known for its picturesque winter scenery, apologized for using cotton wool and soapy water to produce artificial snow.
During the Lunar New Year break at the end of January, the Chengdu Snow village project posted on its official Wechat account on February 8 to say that the weather was warm and the snow town did not develop as planned.
The Chengdu Snow town project said in the statement that although the tourist village bought cotton for the snow to create a “snowy” atmosphere, the effort failed to provide the desired impact and left visitors with a negative impression.
